Areas of Focus

Danielle Berkowsky (she/her) is an attorney at the MacArthur Justice Center. Danielle’s practice focuses on challenging violations of prisoners’ civil rights and litigating on behalf of victims of police abuse. Her work includes advocating for incarcerated transgender women, challenging the use of solitary confinement, and representing families who have lost loved ones to state violence and misconduct.  

Danielle joined MJC after finishing a fellowship in prisoners’ rights at Uptown People’s Law Center. She received her law degree, cum laude, from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Emory University.
